Bhubaneswar: More than 50 Maoist sympathizers surrendered before the district police in the Malkangiri district on Monday.
All of them belong to Sanagumma village under Mathili police station in this district. The surrendered sympathizers include, militia men and village committee member.
The left wing extremism supporters gave up arms before district Superintendent of Police Mitrabhanu Mohapatra here. They were working for the Darabha division.
The cops took a patient hearing of the problems of Maoists and their sympathizers during the surrender. They assured the ultras and their sympathizers that the police will ensure implementation of various welfare measures under the rehabilitation policy.
All the Maoist supporters were given away blankets, clothes, study material and schoolbags.
Around 1000 Maoist sympathizers have surrendered in the district in last two months in the district.
