Bhubaneswar: Koraput district’s Tofan Babam, who had been absconding for nearly two months, on Tuesday surrendered before the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) of Jeypore with a High Court anticipatory bail.
The SDJM instructed him to follow the conditions given by the High Court while releasing him on bail.
The Baba had furnished the condition of the Court and deposited Rs15,000 as security deposit and one surety for his bail, said Baba’s counsel Rajendra Samantray.
Tofan Baba alias Kali Baba was accused of keeping wild animals in his Ashram illegally. The Forest Department and the police had conducted a joint raid in November 2015 and seized weapons, cash, ornaments, liquor and contraceptive items from the ashram. From them the Baba was absconing.
The Baba refuted all charges while stating that the court would only decide the fact.
