Bhubaneswar: The number of women’s deaths due to anaemia is on the rise in Nabarangpur district. Adding to the number, a woman having seven months’ pregnancy has died while undergoing treatment at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH, Nabarangpur on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Raibari Jani, wife of Trinath Jani of Chepati Amba villager under the Jharigaon block.
According to sources, Jani had been admitted with labour pains in the DHH after being shifted from the Jharigaon CHC on Friday. He was under treatment since then. While papers were being prepared to shift her to Koraput, she succumbed on Monday. Her haemoglobin level was only three per cent, according to reports.
It was her first pregnancy too. She died due to anaemia and heart disease, said Dr Arupananda Kar.
A pal of gloom was descended in the hospital premises following her death.
