Balangir Collector M Muthkumar has cancelled the appointment 169 Revenue Inspectors, Assistant Revenue Inspectors and Amins, who were appointed after they cleared the examinations. The Collector issued an order for disengagement of the officials on Thursday.
Notably, there has been alleged irregularities and tampering of answer sheets of the examinations by district officials in charge of the recruitment. A vigilance inquiry report confirmed the allegation. Besides, the report also pointed out involvement of 16 officials, 10 clerks, four OAS officials, the then district Collector Debraj Mishra and clerk Niranjan Tripathy in the irregularities.
The scrapping of the recruitment was welcomed by those who fought for their merits. The investing agency should also look into the money transacted in this recruitment and exposed those involved in it, said an official requesting anonymity.
