NABARANGPUR: The BJP on Thursday launched its State-wide ‘Jana Kalyan Yatra’ at Chandahandi in Nabarangpur district. The programme aims at reaching out to the people and highlighting various developmental schemes of Modi Government.
In the first phase, the yatra will culminate in Keonjhar on April 24 after covering 17 organisational districts.
The yatra, which covered Jharigam, Umerkote, Dhodra, Dabugam and Papadahandi, reached Nabarangpur town in the evening where BJP workers took out a motorcycle rally.
Later, addressing a public meeting here, BJP State president Basanta Panda called upon the people to fight for their rights and said the BJD Government has been neglecting Nabarangpur district in all fields. The demand of the district to avail perennial irrigation water from Indravati Project still remained a dream, he added.
Coming down heavily on the BJD Government, Panda said 48 per cent of the State budget has been contributed by the Centre. The Centre has allotted Rs 4,500 crore this year for railway infrastructure in the State. Of the Rs 94,000 crore budget of the State Government, the Centre’s share is Rs 45,000 crore. But the BJD Government keeps harping on the theme of Central neglect, Panda said.
BJP State secretary Bhrugu Baxipatra, Ranjan Patel and former MP Parsuram Majhi were present.
