Koraput: With an objective to raise awareness on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle, the Koraput district administration has planned to hold special community health check-up camps in all the block headquarters and urban areas of the district during the third week of April.
Officials said the proposed health camps will be slightly different from general health camps as apart from carrying out check-ups, the participants will also be given tips to maintain good health.
“Our counsellors and health staff present at the camps will provide valuable information – including educating them on preventive measures to be taken against various diseases and the quantity of food intake among others – to visitors for maintaining good health. Our idea is to give the participants something valuable to take back home. The health check-up will be done free of cost at the camps that will be held on different dates at different places,” said collector (Koraput) Jaya Kumar V.
According to the collector, apart from testing blood glucose levels, blood pressure, eye and blood group, body mass index and muscle mass index tests will be conducted free of cost at the camp and patients requiring treatment will be referred to the district hospital.
“The height and weight of patients will be recorded in the camps. Participants will be given special health cards containing detailed health information of the concerned persons and it will be helpful as a reference for the participants whenever they go to any hospital for any treatment,” he added.
Officials said the camps will be held in all the 14 block headquarters and five urban areas of the district on different dates .
