Bhubaneswar: A majority of people of KBK districts are dependent on agriculture. Economic development can be achieved in the region by establishment of agriculture-based industries. Agriculture-based bio-diesel projects would be set up in this region, said Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during his one-day visit to Balangir on Tuesday.
Pradhan too said that he would send a technical team to Balangir to conduct a survey for a bio-diesel project.
Besides, he said the Union Government would soon announce passing of two National Highways though Balangir soon.
The Minister attended a programme at Balangir organised by Engineers India Limited (EIL) as chief guest.
He too informed that the Centre has targeted to provide LPG connections to 3.5 lakh people of Balangir district in the coming three years.
The interesting thing that was marked at the meeting is that BJD MP Singh Deo, Congress MLA Mishra and BJP MLA KV Singh Deo shared a single dais for the first time here.
