It may be recalled that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), probing into the case, had recently announced a cash reward of Rs 2 lakh for providing information pertaining to the case.
Itishree Pradhan, a teacher at Tikiri primary school in Rayagada district, was set on fire while she was in her room. She had suffered 90 per cent burn injuries and took her last breath on November 1, 2013, while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Vizag. In a statement before her death, she had blamed the district administration for their apathetic attitude and for not taking any action against the teacher and officials who had been harassing and threatening her. The State government, in its action, had suspended Netrananda Dandasena, the then School Inspector (SI).
Itishree had informed police that Dandasena threatened her as she refused to withdraw a sexual assault complaint against him. On October 27, 2013, Pradhan was watching television when Dandasena allegedly entered the room, doused kerosene and set her on fire.
