BERHAMPUR: Property worth Rs 1.29 crore was found in the possession of a junior engineer of Chakapada block in Kandhamal district on Friday. The junior engineer, P Santosh Kumar Patra, has been accused of owning property disproportionate to his known sources of income. SP of Berhampur Vigilance division, Manoranjan Panda, said raids were conducted at Patra’s houses following search warrants issued by Special Vigilance Judge of Berhampur. Vigilance sleuths raided his house at Bapuji Nagar in Berhampur, rented accommodation in Tikabali, office at Chakapada block and his father’s house at Aska.
Doc held for taking bribe
Koraput: The Medical Officer (gynaecology) of District Headquarters Hospital in Koraput and her driver, Narasingha Hantal, were arrested on Friday for allegedly taking bribe. The errant doctor, Sasmita Dash, had allegedly demanded Rs 5,000 from B Rajesh of Banabharati street in Koraput for opening abdominal stitches of his sister and giving the discharge certificate.
Sonepur: An Amin in the tehsil office under Tarbha block of the district, Sahu Meher, was caught red-handed by Vigilance sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 on Friday. Sahu had demanded the money from Dillip Kumar Nayak of Rambha-Sindol area to demarcate his land. Earlier on May 17, Sahu had taken Rs 1,000 from Dillip.
