NABARANGPUR: Preparations are in final stage for the three-day mega district-level ‘Mondei’, which is scheduled to begin here from Tuesday.
A procession amidst folk music and dance will start from Maa Bhandargharani Temple and along Mahatma Gandhi Marg to the main ground before the start of the programme.
Meanwhile, the block level cultural festival, which was launched from Parua village, a historical place under Maoist infested Raighar block, will come to an end on Monday.
By showcasing the varied classical forms of art from different parts of Odisha and outside, Mondei stands out as an emblem of India’s rich cultural legacy. Troupes from various parts of the country besides the local ones will perform at Mondei Ranga Manch. A five-day Pallishri Mela and Development Exhibition will also be held during the festival.
On day one, ST/SC and Backward Class Development Minister Lalbihari Himirika, Commerce and Transport Minister Ramesh Majhi, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Koraput MP Jhinna Hikaka, legislators of the district Manohar Randhari, Bhujabal Majhi and Subas Gond and Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan are scheduled to grace the festival. On the second day, state chief of UNICEF Yumi Bae, DIG of police, South-Western range S Shyni, all collectors and SPs of Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri and Kalahandi will grace the function.
Similarly, Commerce and Transport Minister Majhi, MP and MLAs of the district will attend the function on the closing day.
Collector and Chairperson of District Council of Culture Rashmita Panda called on all sections of people of the district to actively involve themselves in Mondei. She said the cultural festival strives to proclaim the rich heritage of art, culture and tradition of Nabarangpur district through love and friendship, peace and prosperity.
