Rayagada : The much bragged about Sarba Shikya Abhiyan proves to be worthless, as teachers are forced to hold classes under a tree at Livarkana Primary Village School under Bishamkatak block here, in Rayagada.
Started in 2009 under Sarba Shikya Abhiyan scheme, with classes from one to seven, the school has 38 students, with only two teachers to teach.
The school was somehow managed under the village community building. But after 2013 it was stopped due to the dilapidating condition of the building.
Ever since the school has begun classes are being conducted under a tree. This has raised questions about the future of the kids and quality of education.
“The newly constructed school building is yet to be completed even after five years. At times of rough weather conditions, it becomes a prerogative to stop the classes in absence of school or necessary infrastructure,” said head master Pradyumna Kumar Sahu.
“Due to infighting between the former headmaster and school committee the under constructed school building is still incomplete. I will inform this to Block Resource Centre and District Project Coordinator while trying to get the attention to this matter” Sahu added.
When queried by the media persons, Rayagada District Collector Jagannath Mohanty, said, “He has no information regarding this matter, but ensured that quick action will be taken in this regard.”
