Bhubaneswar: Four people, including a pregnant woman, died and 11 were injured in two separate road accidents at Nuapada and Angul districts in the last couple of days.
On Saturday, two persons were killed and six injured when a bus, carrying 35 to 40 passengers, rammed a truck near Baisana Chhak under Handapa police limits in Angul district. The deceased were identified as Damburudhar Swain and Rajesh Sahoo.
“The bus was on its way to Bhubaneswar from Jeypore,” said IIC of Handapa police station Jayarashmi Sethi. The injured were admitted to Angul district headquarters hospital and discharged after being provided preliminary treatment, police said.
On Friday, a pick-up van collided head-on with an SUV near Bileinjor under Komna block in Nuapada district. Police and locals rescued the six persons from the van and the SUV driver and admitted them to the government hospital at Nuapada. Two among them, Raibari Ghibela, 28, and her sister-in-law Saja, 55, succumbed to their injuries on Saturday morning.
Raibari was pregnant and her relatives were accompanying her to Nuapada district headquarters hospital for the delivery, said SDPO (Nuapada) S S Mishra.
