Bhubaneswar: Union Home Affairs Minister Rajnath Singh arrived at Koraput to take stock of the Left Wing Extremism (LWE) activities in the State. He was received by State Home Secretary Asit Tripathy, Director General of Police (DGP) KB Singh, range DIG S Shyni and senior BSF and CRPF officials at the BSF Helipad.
He will hold discussion on the Maoists activities in Koraput and Malkangiri districts with the senior officials. Later he will fly to Bhubaneswar where he will meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and other State Government officials on various issues.
Singh is visiting the States affected by Maoists after the Centre framed a new policy to combat the Leftwing Extremism.
With a focus on development under the new strategy, he would discuss the blueprint prepared by his Ministry and is likely to press for deadlines for implementing the projects.
Sources said the State Government will place the demands of more deployment of Central paramilitary forces in Maoist affected districts, immediate disbursement of pending Phailin dues and drought assistance.
The Union Minister will leave Bhubaneswar for New Delhi at 5 pm.
