Investigations have revealed that rivalry between Maoist supporters had led to the murder of Gobardhan Bhumia (37), former sarpanch of Tentuligumma in Koraput district of Odisha, on March 13. Speaking to The Hindu on Wednesday, Koraput Superintendent of Police C. S. Meena said four persons have been arrested in the case.
They are Anand Naik, Dasarath Machha, Purna Chandra Naik and Sadana Barik. During interrogation, the arrested persons have confessed that tussle related to relationship with Maoists had led to the murder. Ananda and Purna suspected that former sarpanch Bhumia had misled the Maoists against them.
