Report by Odisha Diary bureau, Rayagada: Today Collective Approach for Transformative Action (CATA ) , a city based platform of progressive thinkers organised a one day programme ‘DIALOGUE ON DEVELOPMEN T ; REGIONAL ECONOMIC GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT’ at Mission Shakti Conference Hall, Rayagada on 3rd April 16. Delegates Like collector & DM of Rayagada attended as Chief guest and inaugurated the workshop in the presence of other dignitaries like ADM-RAYAGADA, US MISHRA-FORMER GSI Director, DR Ashok Sahu-Chairman NIPM. Welcoming a strong contingent of hundreds of participants comprising of Industrial entrepreneurs, social activists, , techno- management students, former corporate employees etc ; Dr. Narendra Kumar Mishra, Director ,CATA called for a progressive movement for sustainable large scale industrialisation which opens up channels of appropriate employment opportunities for skilled tribal youth of Rayagada. Presiding over the meeting as Chief Guest Sri Jaganath Mohanty, Collector, Rayagada highly appreciated the endeavour and stressed upon the need for a holistic approach for development. He focussed upon certain inherent issues & problems. Along with addressing the problems of R& R as well as CSR on rational humanitarian grounds, optimum mineral resource utilization through large & medium scale industries are essential for regional economic growth and development, Sri Mohanty asserted. Sri Laxmi Kanta Behera, A.D.M., Rayagada as the Guest of Honour discussed various problems faced in the implementation of development projects in Rayagada district and the need for its eradication. Along with modern technology application in agriculture, due importance should be given for optimum utilization of regional natural resources, Sri Behera emphasized. Sri U.S. Mishra, former Director, GSI spoke on’ Natural Resource Management for the development in Rayagada district. Dr Ashok Sahu , Chairman, NIPM, Utkal Chapter gave a vivid picture of the contributution of NALCO while deliberating on ‘Industrialization and regional growth. Dr B. B. Dash, former Director, MSME stressed on the need for establishment for industry and self enterprise while speaking on ‘Skill development of youth & Employment opportunities ‘.Prof Mrs. Bobby Shroff spoke on ‘Regional Disparity & Inclusive Growth’ emphasising that along with modernisation of agriculture techniques, industrialization on utilization of available regional mineral resources should also be given priority. Prof. Dr. Debashis Pani and Sri R. P. Bisoyi also presented papers on alternative growth models.
